Itinerary

Day -1: 9th November / Arrive in Kochi

Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, our representative will greet you with a placard bearing your name and assist you with your transfer to the hotel. Please note that only the airport transfer is included today, and no sightseeing activities are scheduled.

In the evening, meet your fellow riders and our crew over a refreshing drink at dinner. Enjoy a restful night’s sleep as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

Day -2: 10th November / Kochi to Athirappilly [80km]

Visit the iconic Chinese fishing nets and Jew Town, and enjoy a tuk-tuk ride through the vibrant spice markets.

On your first day riding the Enfields, we will keep the pace relaxed, allowing you to get a feel for the local traffic and road conditions. Leaving the dense coastal region behind, the route gradually leads into rural landscapes before ascending along winding roads into a cooler, forested climate en route to the impressive Athirappilly Waterfalls.

Explore Kerala’s largest waterfall, often referred to as the “Niagara of India”, set amidst lush greenery and scenic viewpoints. Afterwards, arrive at your hotel and check in. Overnight stay.

Day -3: 11th November / Anthirapalli to Munnar [140km]

Ride to Munnar along scenic winding roads that offer breathtaking views of tea plantations, mist-covered hills, and cascading waterfalls. En route, take short breaks to soak in the picturesque surroundings.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. In the evening, visit the vibrant local market in Munnar. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day -4: 12th November / Munnar Excursions [50km]

Today is dedicated to exploring Munnar, set amidst its expansive tea plantations and rich natural beauty. Visit a tea factory to learn about the production process, followed by a tour of the spice plantations and gardens. Continue to Top Station, a scenic viewpoint offering panoramic views of the Western Ghats and the plains of Tamil Nadu. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day -5: 13th November / Munnar to Kodaikanal [180km]

Ride to Kodaikanal, enjoying a series of scenic mountain roads with spectacular views of shimmering lakes and valleys. The route briefly descends into the warm plains of Tamil Nadu before ascending once again into the refreshing mountain air of the Palani Hills.

In the mid-19th century, Kodaikanal served as a favoured retreat for British and American missionaries seeking respite. Today, it proudly lives up to its title as the “Princess of Hill Stations,” offering charming hotels that showcase its natural beauty, along with a vibrant and evolving culinary scene.

Day -6: 14th November / Kodaikanal to Madurai [120km]

Visit Kodaikanal Lake and its surrounding areas, including the picturesque Silver Cascade Falls and Bear Shola Falls. Thereafter, begin your ride to one of India’s oldest cities, Madurai, often referred to as the “Athens of the East.” A prominent centre of worship and commerce, the city reflects the rich and layered history of South India.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Meenakshi Temple. As you wander through this magnificent complex, imagine yourself attending one of the grandest celestial weddings. Marvel at the vibrant colours, intricately carved pillars, elaborate shrines, and 14 towering gopurams—the tallest rising to 170 feet. The Meenakshi Temple stands as a tribute to the divine union of Meenakshi (an incarnation of Goddess Parvati) and Sundareshvara (Lord Shiva), symbolising love and devotion in its most magnificent form. Day -7: 15th November / Madurai to Coonoor [260km]

Today’s ride takes you across the industrial plains, bypassing the bustling city of Coimbatore en route to the hill station of Coonoor. The journey ascends through a series of winding hairpin bends, passing dense forests, breathtaking viewpoints and occasional sightings of monkeys, as you make your way to Coonoor, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,800 metres above sea level.

As you climb higher, you will notice a refreshing drop in temperature. Perched high above the plains, your charming resort offers excellent cuisine and comfortable, well-appointed accommodation, providing the perfect setting to relax after the day’s ride.

Day -8: 16th November / Coonoor to Ooty to Bandipur [80km]

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast. At 10:40 am, transfer to Coonoor Railway Station to board the toy train to Ooty, arriving at 11:55 am.

Your Enfield motorcycles will be dispatched to Ooty at 9:00 am, ensuring they are ready upon your arrival. From the railway station, you can proceed directly with your ride towards Bandipur National Park.

Day -9: 17th November / Bandipur

Today is at leisure, allowing you time to relax and unwind. You will also enjoy a shared safari in Bandipur National Park.

Nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Bandipur National Park was established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger. Spanning over 870 square kilometres, it is surrounded by lush forests, rolling greenery, and tranquil rivers. The park is a paradise for nature and wildlife enthusiasts, offering breathtaking landscapes and thrilling safari experiences. It is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including tigers, rare bird species, and many other fascinating animals.

Day -10: 18th November / Bandipur to Wayanad [100km]

One of the most distinctive aspects of riding from Bandipur to Wayanad is the route itself. The two regions are connected by a scenic stretch of road that winds through dense, verdant forests. As you journey through this lush landscape, remain attentive—you may be fortunate enough to spot wildlife, such as elephants or herds of deer, crossing your path.

The journey provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature as you immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the jungle. Be sure to have your camera ready, as every turn in the road unveils a new vista of verdant landscapes.

Day -11: 19th November / Wayanad to Guruvayur [190km]

We continue our journey towards the coast, arriving at Guruvayur, a revered spiritual town that attracts thousands of Hindu pilgrims each day. The town is lined with shops offering a wide array of religious artefacts and paraphernalia. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel.

Later, visit the Guruvayur Temple, one of India’s most sacred Hindu shrines, dedicated to Lord Krishna and often referred to as the “Dwaraka of the South.” You will also visit the nearby elephant camp, a sanctuary that houses and cares for the temple’s elephants.

Day -12: 20th November / Guruvayur to Alleppey [150km]

From Temples to the Backwaters. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before riding towards Alleppey. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel set along the tranquil backwaters.

In the afternoon, after lunch, embark on a two-hour cruise on Lake Vembanad. This relaxing houseboat experience offers an ideal way to explore the scenic beauty of the lake, the Punnamada canals, and the enchanting backwaters of Alleppey. Glide through serene waterways bordered by lush paddy fields and picturesque villages. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day -13: 21st November / Alleppey to Varkala Beach [125km]

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before setting off on an exciting motorcycle ride to Varkala, a coastal gem renowned for its spiritual significance and striking natural beauty. The journey takes you along scenic routes through picturesque villages and the lush greenery of Kerala, offering captivating views at every turn.

Varkala Beach, also known as Papanasham Beach, holds deep cultural and spiritual importance. The name “Papanasham” translates to “the washing away of sins,” and it is believed that a dip in its sacred waters purifies the soul. What makes Varkala truly unique is its dramatic cliffs, the only ones of their kind in Kerala, rising majestically along the Arabian Sea and creating a spectacular setting.

Day -14: 22nd November / Varkala Beach

Day -15: 23rd November / Varkala Beach to Kochi [180km]

Today marks the final day of your journey as you ride back to Cochin. Arrive by midday, where the motorcycles will be handed over at our local office.

You will then be transferred to Cochin Airport for your onward flight home. For your convenience, two rooms will be reserved for wash and change facilities. Guests who wish to extend their stay may do so, and we would be pleased to arrange additional nights in Cochin or any other preferred destination.

Suitable equipment is essential to ensure this adventure is a success! Travel light: try to keep it below 15 kg (33 lbs) for your domestic flight, and it will make it easier for you to handle your luggage.

  • Duffle bag (with some plastic bags to protect the contents) or large backpack without an external metal frame. You can lock it with a padlock. Possibly a backpack cover. Before leaving, attach a label to your bag with your contact details and India Personal Tour's contact details.
  • A small backpack of 10/20 litres for the daytime (camera, sunscreen lotion).
  • For people sensitive to the cold: a warmer sleeping bag, e.g., suitable for -10 ºC, or an extra duvet. A sleeping bag liner is recommended.
